FAQ

Do I have to pay for a mold remediation estimate?

Comprehensive Mold Management will do a free estimate if you are the homeowner and the property is not a rental property or business.

Do you offer any kind of warranty on mold remediation

We follow industry-standard protocol, so any work we complete where we apply our mold proof coating is covered with a lifetime warranty.* If you sell your home, our work is covered with a five-year transferable warranty.

Does CMM offer financing?

We understand cost is a concern for many families today. It’s why we are the only company to offer interest-free and long-term financing payment plans to qualified customers. We offer two popular options:

  • Up to 3 years Interest-Free Financing
  • Longer-Term Financing Plans to meet your budget

We realize that not every family is the same, and some have more specific financial needs. It’s why we also offer more customized solutions that can fit into any family budget. Call 585.235.6182 for details.

Are you a local company?

We are a local, family-owned and operated, certified, fully insured company founded in Rochester, NY.

Do you sub out any of the work?

We have years of experience in the construction trades, which allows us to see problems and causes other companies may miss, such as structural defects or drainage issues. We have the experience and expertise to perform the corrective work ourselves rather than subcontract it out — which saves our customers considerable time and money. In the event outside professional assistance is necessary, such as in asbestos removal, we have established strategic alliances with the best contractors in the area who mirror our commitment to customer satisfaction.

If I am a renter, what should I do about mold in my apartment?

The prevention of mold is the responsibility of the building owner. There are species of mold that are extremely dangerous, leading to needing a professional analysis before performing cleanup in an apartment. If mold growth is severe, tenants may need to leave the unit until it is returned to a livable condition.

If you think you may have a mold problem in your rental unit, contact your landlord or maintenance person first. If you are unable to get them to help, contact your local Public Health Department, or if you are willing to pay, hire an independent party to test for mold.

How does mold inside my home impact my health?

Healthy people can experience many annoying and potentially dangerous symptoms due to the presence of mold. People with allergy/breathing issues, compromised immune systems, children, and the elderly are especially impacted. According to the EPA, mold odors in the home can increase the rates of asthma in children up to 2.5 times, and exposure to mold during infancy is linked to the development of chronic inflammation of the lung airways. Some of the other more common health conditions mold causes are skin rashes, fatigue, depression, coughing, sneezing, other flu-like symptoms, and many other health conditions.

Why should I get my air ducts cleaned?

The most common problem that customers experience with their HVAC systems include mold, pet hair, dander, dirt, pollen, and other debris and contaminants. Over time these contaminants contribute to breathing disorders, including asthma and allergies, as they circulate throughout your home.

When moisture is present, if debris is in the ducting, mold growth can form and compromise the air quality in your house. Having your air ducts cleaned will provide a healthier living environment and extend the life of your heating system.

Can my pet stay home during air duct cleaning?

Most pets can stay in the home unless they have breathing issues. All exotic birds need to be removed, as they are extremely sensitive to our cleaning products.

Why do I need air testing for mold?

Air testing is performed to determine the presence and concentration of mold spores in your home’s air, especially when mold is not visually evident. For people with allergies, asthma/other respiratory issues, compromised immune systems, children, and the elderly who are particularly sensitive to mold, air testing is recommended.

Will household bleach get rid of and prevent mold?

No, household bleach will not remediate mold or prevent future mold growth.
“CMM did exceptional work, were thorough from top-to-bottom, and had excellent customer service.  They provided a detailed breakdown of the work that needed to be done, and the owner even followed up with a more in-depth explanation of the job. Their service people (Jon, Gary) were punctual and even finished the job a day earlier than anticipated.  The support staff I talked to on the phone (Linda, Delia) and communicated with via email were helpful and friendly.  I hope that I never need any mold remediation done again, but if I do, I wouldn’t hesitate to hire CMM again.  Working with them was a great experience.” – Sean C.
